Network and Mentoring

Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program is administered by the Office of the Assistant Dean for Student Administrative Services. Please contact Assistant Dean Em Claire Knowles for more information or to participate (617-521-2798 or knowles@simmons.edu). The program assists students by providing insights into competencies required in various professional areas, assessing current skill sets and suggesting possible projects and activities for enhancements, and setting up the beginnings of a professional network. Students and graduates in Connecticut may be interested in participating in the CLA's program:

Student Participation in Alumni Day

The GSLIS Alumni Association plans an annual program providing professional development for professionals throughout the community. Alumni often sponsor students, allowing them to attend this event either free or at a reduced rate.

Professional Associations

Simmons GSLIS alumni are active throughout the Boston library and information science community. Students are often able to join the national associations at special rates, enabling them to gain exposure to every aspect of the profession. There are also GSLIS student chapters of each of the major professional organizations that meet regularly on campus. By attending meetings, helping with events, and becoming involved, GSLIS students get the chance to network with alumni. Check out the following sites:
